Third Quarter Dividends

To facilitate the merger, Columbia Regional will pay dividends on share (savings), share draft (checking) and Christmas Club accounts on July 31st. That dividend will be for the period from July 1st through July 31st for savings and checking and from November 1, 2007 through July 31st for Christmas Club. First Community will pay dividends on September 30th for the period from August 1st through September 30th.

Member Numbers

All Columbia Regional members will be given new member numbers. The new numbers will be mailed with the July 31st statements. Beginning August 4th, Columbia Regional members can log on to Internet Banking (eBranch) on the First Community website – www.fccu.us – using their new member number as their ID and the last 4 numbers of their social security number as the password.

Account Choices

First Community offers three different checking accounts:

   1. Prestige Club Checking

   2. eChecking

   3. Regular Checking

Age 50 And Older

The Prestige Club Checking is available to members age 50 and older. This account features no monthly service charge and no minimum balance and pays dividends (interest) if you maintain a $500 balance. Club members also receive a number of free services. If you are 50 or older, your Columbia Regional checking account will become a First Community Prestige Club Account on August 1st.

Age 49 And Younger

If you are 49 or younger, you will need to let us know if you want eChecking or Regular Checking. eChecking is a no minimum balance, no monthly service charge account. Statements are available online and not mailed monthly. Regular checking has a $5 monthly service change if your balance goes below $300. If we don’t hear from you, we will set you up with the free eChecking account.

Check Cards

First Community check cards will be mailed to all Columbia Regional members on July 20th. Members will need to continue using Columbia Regional check cards through July 30th. On July 31st, you will need to start using your First Community check cards.

Columbia Regional Checks

You will be able to continue using your Columbia Regional checks after the merger date. However, we encourage you to reorder First Community checks at your earliest convenience. Any checks ordered on or after July 28th will be First Community checks. Both credit unions use Liberty Check Printers so the same styles, options and pricing should be available

Special July 31st Statement

All members will receive a Columbia Regional statement through July 31st. Transactions on or after August 1st will be on your next First Community statement.

Converting Trust to Custodial Accounts

On July 1, a mailing will be sent to all IRA account holders that includes a letter, a new IRA Custodial Agreement, a financial projection and a new disclosure statement. You will need to provide the requested information at the bottom of the letter, sign it and return it to the credit union. We recommend that you keep the new agreement, financial projection and disclosure statement with your other IRA documents.

The reason we need these new documents is that Columbia Regional acts as an IRA trustee and First Community acts as an IRA custodian. A trustee holds legal title to property "in trust" for the benefit of another person. A custodian does not own or hold legal title to the property, but "keeps" and "cares for" the property of the owner. We need to change the IRA relationship from trustee to custodian.
